Freer & Finsac 28th in Australia’s Biggest Race

Freer & Finsac 28th in Australia’s Biggest Race

Sunday, September 22nd was the date. The V8 Supercars Online Premier Series Bathurst 1000 was the race.

161 Laps, 1000 kilometres, Mount Panorama – it doesn’t get any bigger than this in Australia sim-racing!

The Rev It Up Racing eSports Team managed to qualify two cars into the 50 car field, The #251 of Jeremiah Morton & Nicholas Crofton; and the #252 of Jackson Freer & Cedric Finsac.

Starting toward the rear of the grid, both Morton and Freer had solid, clean starts, and began moving their way through the field, before the first Safety Car came on Lap 19.

When the restart came, the 50-car train headed up the mountain for the 22nd time. But this time, cold tyres would wreak havoc on the race…

Three separate drivers lost control of their cars at the Reid Park section of road, and Jeremiah Morton arrived on the scene with no time to react. A monumental 8 car pile up followed, with Morton’s #251 car stranded on the race track, being hit multiple times by the oncoming traffic.

Somehow, Freer managed to slide the #252 car through the chaos without any contact, and carry on. But for Morton & Crofton, the Bathurst dream was over, just 22 laps into the race – before Nicholas even had a chance to race the car.

As the team moved their focus toward car #252, Freer slowly moved his way into the Top 30, before handing the car over to Frenchman Cedric Finsac, for the back half of the race.

Despite a few incidents with other cars, and a rub with the wall, a solid and long stint by Finsac allowed the team to come home in 28th position.

“Honestly, I’m pretty happy with P28,” explained Jackson Freer, ” it’s both Cedric’s and my first V8SCOPS 1000, so to bring the car home is an achievement in itself. We saw with Jerry [Morton] how quickly this race can be over, and you’ve got to feel for those guys, but I’m happy with my performance over the weekend, and can’t wait to come back next year.”

Congratulations to the Evolution Racing Team, and Jordan Filsell & Jordan Ross on their victory!
