Morton & Freer Find Redemption with Double Podium at Spa

Morton & Freer Find Redemption with Double Podium at Spa

After the drama and disappointment of last week’s IMSA SportsCar Championship race, Rev It Up Racing eSports Team drivers Jeremiah Morton & Jackson Freer went to Spa-Francorchamps, hoping for a better result.

Freer would qualify 4th in GTE, with Morton 5th in GT3 – setting up a hopeful race ahead for both drivers.

Freer quickly moved into 3rd after narrowly avoiding a first lap incident, and found his space in the race, to come home for a lonely 3rd place.  Meanwhile, Morton continued to find pace as his race went on, before struggling with mid-corner understeer. Then, a disaster only a streamer could imagine, a Green Screen fell on him while racing! (Unfortunately for us all, Jeremiah was not streaming at this point)

Despite this, Morton managed to climb to 3rd place through consistency and attrition, to round out a Double-Podium for the team!

Disaster as Freer & Morton Collide in Interlagos

Disaster as Freer & Morton Collide in Interlagos

Drivers from the Rev It Up Racing eSports Team are competing in the Online IMSA SportsCar Championship this season, in order to enjoy some solo racing while Endurance Racing is on a break.

Round 1 got underway at Interlagos, Brazil, and everything was looking towards a solid opening round, until disaster struck…

With less than 2 minutes remaining in the race, Jackson Freer (GTE) was catching Jeremiah Morton (GT3) while battling with another GTE car. The trio found themselves 3 wide going down the front straight, when they interlocked wheels, causing a major accident – with Morton in the wall, and Freer going right over the top of him before landing back on his wheels.

The incident took Freer out of the race, while Morton was able to limp home for 7th.

Freer & Finsac 28th in Australia’s Biggest Race

Freer & Finsac 28th in Australia’s Biggest Race

Sunday, September 22nd was the date. The V8 Supercars Online Premier Series Bathurst 1000 was the race.

161 Laps, 1000 kilometres, Mount Panorama – it doesn’t get any bigger than this in Australia sim-racing!

The Rev It Up Racing eSports Team managed to qualify two cars into the 50 car field, The #251 of Jeremiah Morton & Nicholas Crofton; and the #252 of Jackson Freer & Cedric Finsac.

Starting toward the rear of the grid, both Morton and Freer had solid, clean starts, and began moving their way through the field, before the first Safety Car came on Lap 19.

When the restart came, the 50-car train headed up the mountain for the 22nd time. But this time, cold tyres would wreak havoc on the race…

Three separate drivers lost control of their cars at the Reid Park section of road, and Jeremiah Morton arrived on the scene with no time to react. A monumental 8 car pile up followed, with Morton’s #251 car stranded on the race track, being hit multiple times by the oncoming traffic.

Somehow, Freer managed to slide the #252 car through the chaos without any contact, and carry on. But for Morton & Crofton, the Bathurst dream was over, just 22 laps into the race – before Nicholas even had a chance to race the car.

As the team moved their focus toward car #252, Freer slowly moved his way into the Top 30, before handing the car over to Frenchman Cedric Finsac, for the back half of the race.

Despite a few incidents with other cars, and a rub with the wall, a solid and long stint by Finsac allowed the team to come home in 28th position.

“Honestly, I’m pretty happy with P28,” explained Jackson Freer, ” it’s both Cedric’s and my first V8SCOPS 1000, so to bring the car home is an achievement in itself. We saw with Jerry [Morton] how quickly this race can be over, and you’ve got to feel for those guys, but I’m happy with my performance over the weekend, and can’t wait to come back next year.”

Congratulations to the Evolution Racing Team, and Jordan Filsell & Jordan Ross on their victory!

The Beginning of a New Season – 6 Hours of Road America

The Beginning of a New Season – 6 Hours of Road America

Rev It Up Racing eSports Team drivers Jeremiah Morton, Jack Godden & Thomas Pendergrass have come home in Position 5, after a hard fought 6 Hours of Road America.

The iRacing Endurance Le Mans Series Season Opener (For Season 4 of 2019) got underway with a strong start from Thomas Pendergrass (USA), before getting pushed into the fence at the fastest corner on the circuit. After a stop for repairs, the job was handed to Jeremiah Morton (AUS) and Jack Godden (UK), to salvage a result.

Strong, consistent driving from all 3 drivers enabled a result of 5th – a great salvage after an unavoidable incident.

Round 2 will be from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya – a brand new track to the iRacing service.

Morton & Ott Salvage 5th at the 6 Hours of Nurburgring

Morton & Ott Salvage 5th at the 6 Hours of Nurburgring

Rev It Up Racing eSports Team drivers Jeremiah Morton & Corey Ott salvaged a 5th position in the iELMS 6 Hours of Nurburgring, after a tough and hard fought race.

Following a dramatic stint by Corey Ott, that saw 58 incident points racked up (out of a maximum of 60), Morton was charged with the near-impossible task of driving for 3 hours, with only 1 incident point in the bank before disqualification.

And he did it!

Driving on his tip toes for 3 hours, Morton managed to only pick up the single incident point, to bring the car home in 5th, with 59/60 incident points recorded. Team-mate, Clint Smith, hailed it as Morton’s “best drive of the year” – which says a lot.

Meanwhile, in the #002 B Car, Cedric Finsac & Nicholas Crofton started their first endurance race for the season. Unfortunately the pair had to retire the car about 1 hour into the race.

The team moves onto Daytona this week for solo racing, before heading to Spa-Francorchamps next weekend for the last 24 Hour race of the year!

Picking up Where They Left Off – 6 Hours of Monza

Picking up Where They Left Off – 6 Hours of Monza

Rev It Up Racing eSports Team drivers Jeremiah Morton & Corey Ott have started the new season of LMP2 racing just as they finished the last, winning the iELMS 6 Hours of Monza!

Commanding drives from the #001 pair saw them take the lead, and control the entire back half of the race, eventually winning by a full lap in the Top Split.

Meanwhile, in the second split, Car B #002 drivers Thomas Pendergrass & Jackson Freer fought hard to pick up 2nd place at the end of 6 Hours of racing. Both drivers were reasonably happy with the result, but pointed out flaws in their own respective performances that cost them a chance at the victory.

Car C #003 was driven by Sean Grimmond & Benn Anthony, and an impressive, rock solid race from both drivers saw them picking up the final step on the second split podium!

The team will enjoy a week of solo-only racing, before heading to the Nurburgring for the next 6 Hour iELMS endurance race in two weeks.

The Agony of 2nd – 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans

The Agony of 2nd – 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans

After 23 Hours of racing, 22 seconds split Car A of the Rev It Up Racing eSports Team from the leaders at the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans. After solid driving by the all-Australian squad of Corey Ott, Clint Smith & Jackson Freer, the task of closing the gap was on the shoulders of Jeremiah Morton.

Lap after lap Morton closed the gap, and when both cars had made their final Pit Stops, there was just 1 second between 1st & 2nd, with 25 Minutes remaining! Morton made a move for the lead and started to build a small gap, before the smallest of mistakes would prove costly. A ‘slow down’ penalty coming onto the Mulsanne Straight allowed the #20 car to retake the lead, triggering a close battle into the following corners. Braking late and sliding across the apex, Morton was just tagged by the #20 car as it went back past. It seemed the battle would continue into the final 10 minutes, but the slightest of touches caused damage to the rear wing, and Morton was no longer able to stay in the fight. The Rev It Up Racing eSports Team car A came home in 2nd place, 7 seconds shy of a dream Le Mans victory.

“I’m sorry guys,” a despondent Morton explained to his team mates, “I made a mistake, ran too deep and then they (Car #20) came through and [there was] contact to my rear, then I had no grip because of rear damage.”

Despite eventually losing the race in the heat of battle, the entire team performed extremely well to be in with a chance during the final laps, and proved once again that they are one of the strongest teams in the LMP2 class.

Meanwhile, Car B #002 brought their HPD home with a rock solid Top 10 finish, after a challenging 24 Hours of racing! A few incidents – some at fault and some caused by others, forced a little more time spent in the Pit Lane than ideal. However, the squad of Jack Godden, Sean Grimmond, Christopher Norton, Sam Doecke & Kristofer Foster produced a strong, committed & hard fought race to secure a Top 10 result.

This race concludes a fantastic Season 2 of 2019 for the team, taking a two week break before returning for an exciting full season of Endurance Racing!

Winners on Debut! The Rev It Up Racing eSports Team Victorious at Indy

Winners on Debut! The Rev It Up Racing eSports Team Victorious at Indy

Australian drivers, Jeremiah Morton and Corey Ott, have delivered the Rev It Up Racing eSports Team victory on debut!

Starting from 2nd for today’s 6 Hours of Indianapolis, Morton pushed hard to pull a lead on North Sim Racing, before handing the HPD LMP2 car over to Ott to bring it home in the back half of the race. After 6 hours of racing, a late race pit stop for fuel raised heart rates, but with a large enough gap back to 2nd place, the Rev It Up Racing eSports Team drivers were able to stay in the lead and secure the win by 35 seconds.

With one round remaining in the iRacing Endurance Le Mans Series, the team lead the Championship, but still need to stay focused at the 6 Hours of Le Mans to get the job done.
